Experiencing intimate partner violence can leave lasting psychological, emotional, and physiological effects. Whether the harm was physical, emotional, psychological, or coercive in nature, the impact often extends far beyond the relationship itself—affecting one’s sense of safety, identity, and capacity for trust.

I provide trauma-informed counselling for individuals who have experienced intimate partner violence, with an emphasis on restoring safety, stability, and personal agency. Therapy is paced according to your readiness and focuses on helping you process what has happened without becoming overwhelmed. Together, we work to reduce symptoms such as anxiety, hypervigilance, shame, and emotional dysregulation, while strengthening internal and external supports.

My approach integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), alongside attention to the physiological effects of trauma. This may include developing grounding strategies, rebuilding a sense of control, and addressing patterns that may have developed in response to prolonged stress or harm.

For some, the focus may be on processing past experiences. For others, it may include navigating ongoing dynamics, clarifying boundaries, or preparing for next steps in a way that prioritizes safety. At all times, the work is collaborative, respectful, and guided by your goals.

This is a space where your experiences will be taken seriously, where you will not be blamed for what has happened, and where you can begin to make sense of your experience at your own pace.
